Rebecca
Rebecca was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. Inspired to make connections between what we eat and where it comes from, she started farming in 2004. Her path to the Student Organic Farm wound its way from a Sicilian farm at the base of a volcano, to a Jewish organic farm in the Connecticut Berkshires, to The Edible Schoolyard in Berkeley, California, and finally to Lansing. She co-leads the Organic Farmer Training Program, teaching and advising students in all aspects of farmer training and coordinating all OFTP activities. She collaboratively re-designed the program into its current non-credit format in 2010 and has continued to lead program revisions for 2011. She manages both the year-round CSA and the summer-only CSA at the SOF. Rebecca is humbled by how much more there will always be to learn from the land, and is excited to be on this lifelong journey of teaching and learning through small-scale organic farming. She loves to grow, harvest, cook, and eat delicious produce with intention and with community, and is grateful to have the opportunity to work with the next generation of farmers.
