Membership

The Student Organic Farm CSA is unique in that it is year-round. This means that Michigan residents who are members of our CSA receive locally grown, organic vegetable YEAR round. We are able to grow year-round with the help of our unheated greenhouses. We grow greens (kale, collards, komatsuna, salad mix, arugula, pak choi, etc) in the unheated hoop houses all winter long. CSA members also will receive stored potatoes, onions, winter squash, garlic, carrots, beets, turnips, parsnips and other storable crops all winter long.
In the summer, the diversity of vegetables in the share increases dramatically. In addition to the above mentioned crops, the usual summer veggies are grown outdoors- tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, zucchini, cucumbers, melons, broccoli, cabbage, beets, carrots, lettuce and all the rest of the usual crops. We also have U-Pick strawberries, cherry tomatoes, raspberries, flowers and herbs. Feel free to look over our archived Member newsletters to find out what kinds of vegetables we’ve been giving out.

How Do I Become A Member?

We have 2 different membership opportunities. Most members are year round members who pay for 4 month (16 weeks) sessions at a time. One 16 week session is $460 currently (price will go up by no more than 5% each fall session). This breaks down to about $28 per week, for 16 weeks. Each 16 week session is parallel to the Michigan State University academic calendar. We have Summer, Fall and Spring sessions. We do not distribute vegetables for 3 weeks over the winter holiday break.

Our other membership opportunity is a SUMMER ONLY share. This share runs from mid-June through October and is 20 weeks. This share is currently $600 and is offered during our summer and fall seasons which is our most bountiful time on the farm.

Currently we have a waiting list to join the CSA. If you are interested in finding out more, please email
msufarm @ msu.edu and your name will be added to the waitlist and any questions you have about the CSA or the farm will be answered.

When you email us to get on the waitlist, please include your name, phone number, email address, and address. You will automatically get on the year-round waitlist. If you are only interested in the summer-only share, please specify that in your email.
