Bio:

I was born in 1986, raised by my parents, David/Rita, along with my four brothers, in the suburbs of Columbus, Ohio.  When my dad took a job at Ford Mo. Co. in 1993, the whole family moved to Northville, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit.   In 2005 I came to Michigan State and just-recently graduated, earning my bachelors in “Agribusiness Management.”

A struggle for me to get through college helped emphasize the importance of how physical activity drives my learning and general well-being.  Learning this helped me decide to pursue a career in agriculture, given the high level of physical activity required of a farmer.  For this same reason, the applied, on-farm style of educating used by the SOF-OFTP makes being apart of this program an ideal opportunity for me to gain for my lack of farming knowledge, skill and experience.

One of my few farming experiences was working a summer (2009) for Thornapple CSA (farm in Charlotte, MI), which helped me realize how much I enjoy working closely with people.  I hope to continue pursuing work with Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) or similar work that can help sustain agriculture in suburban areas.

Besides seeking a career in agriculture… I hope to be with my family/friends, enjoying life ... faith, music, food, sports, a creative project, or any outdoor activity or adventure will do it for me!
